Sales share of generic pharmaceuticals in Sweden 2008-2023

The share of total pharmaceutical sales that came from generics increased each year during the period from 2008 to 2023. The share reached more than half of the total sales in 2012, and increased up to more than two thirds of defined daily doses (DDD) dispensed for the first time in 2021, and finally to nearly 70 percent in 2023.
