RNA-seq of whole-brain tissue from 16 laboratory mouse strains as part of the Mouse Genomes Project at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute

The Mouse Genomes Project ( http://www.sanger.ac.uk/science/data/mouse-genomes-project ) uses next-generation sequencing technologies to catalogue molecular variation in the common laboratory mouse strains, and a selected set of wild-derived inbred strains. Access to complete sequence of multiple inbred strains will add to these resources and will become a permanent foundation for a systems biology approach to phenotypic variation in the mouse. In this particular study, we have sequenced the transcriptome of whole-brain tissue from 16 laboratory mouse strains to examine differences in gene expression levels, differential RNA-editing, and for use in de novo gene prediction.
小鼠基因组计划(Mouse Genomes Project,官网地址:http://www.sanger.ac.uk/science/data/mouse-genomes-project )采用下一代测序技术,对常见实验室小鼠品系及选定的野生来源近交系小鼠的分子变异进行编目。获取多个近交品系的完整基因组序列将进一步充实此类研究资源,并为开展小鼠表型变异的系统生物学研究奠定永久性基础。在本研究中,我们对16种实验室小鼠品系的全脑组织转录组开展了测序,旨在检测基因表达水平差异、差异RNA编辑,并将所得测序数据用于从头基因预测(de novo gene prediction)。
