The Desert Fishes Index to Fish Images, Maps and Information

This is a taxonomically structured index to DFC WWW and TNHC Fish WWW holdings
for North America. A regional and habitat-based index is in development. This
list is derived from the list of North American Freshwater Fishes of Mayden,
R.L. et al. 1992 and from Williams, J.E. et al. (1989). Scientific and common
names follow Mayden et al., except for some (mostly subspecies) found only in
Williams et al. This index includes native North American desert fishes (and
all additional species from the Great Basin, Colorado River System, Rio Grande
System, and northern Mexico, ie all the fishes from drainages that pass through
deserts), as well as few exotic species and native species outside of desert
drainages for which we have files.
