EXIOFUTURES is a scenario-based extension of EXIOBASE for exploring how future socioeconomic change, technology shifts, policy choices, and consumption patterns may reshape global environmental footprints. It builds on EXIOBASE’s detailed multi-regional input-output structure, linking industries, products, countries, trade flows, and environmental extensions to quantify impacts across supply chains rather than only where production occurs. The framework is designed to support comparisons of alternative future pathways, including changes in emissions, energy use, land, water, materials, biodiversity pressures, and other sustainability indicators. By combining the sectoral and geographic detail of EXIOBASE with forward-looking assumptions, EXIOFUTURES provides a consistent basis for assessing transition risks, policy options, consumption choices, and the distribution of environmental pressures across regions and sectors.
