Persistence of Burkholderia pseudomallei with limited genome evolution over five decades in a temperate climatic region of Australia

We report a new melioidosis outbreak in animals of Avon Valley, Western Australia which occurred after very high rainfall in the region in January 2017. Epidemiological data and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) revealed the location of animal infections . We also describe the genetic diversity of the strains from Southwest Western Australia.
