RNA sequencing reveals distinct immune responses in the chorioamniotic membranes of women with preterm labor and microbial or sterile intra-amniotic inflammation

Chorioamniotic membrane samples were profiled using paired-end Illumina RNAseq to evaluate transcriptomic changes in these tissues associated with the inflammatory status of the amniotic cavity. The study included women with intact membranes who underwent spontaneous preterm labor and birth without intra-amniotic inflammation (PTL, n = 12), with sterile intra-amniotic inflammation (PTL_SIAI, n = 17), and with intra-amniotic infection (PTL_IAI, n = 11).
