Geological mapping of the Blue Glacier regions and detailed studies of three sections within the Ferrar Dolerite

The Blue Glacier region was geologically mapped in detail as part of a regional detailed geological mapping project between the Skelton and Taylor Glaciers. In addition to geological mapping, detailed studies of four sections within the Ferrar Dolerite was conducted. Areas that were examined and geologically mapped include the head of the Blue Glacier, areas around the Salient Glacier, the Walcott Glacier (to tie in with mapping completed in the 77-78 season in the region of the Foster and Renegar Glaciers and between the Renegar and Blue Glaciers), the Geoffrey Glacier, the central section of the Blue Glacier region from camps at the foot of the Salient Glacier and Lister Glacier, the Williams Peak regions, Con Rod Ridge and the southern most part of Arthur Allan Thomas Hills.
