Amixicile inhibits anaerobic bacteria within periodontal microbiome

Periodontal disease results from overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria present within oral plaque biofilm. We tested amixicile, an antibiotic that inhibits anaerobic bacteria, to determine if it can inhibits growth of anaerobic bacteria grown within mixed culture of organisms derived from subgingival plaque.
