A Standard Metadata Template For Representing Water Samples

This dataset provides a standardised template for representing metadata associated with water samples (including groundwater and surface water) within the CSIRO Mineral Resources Discovery program. The template captures core sample properties such as name, identifier, type, and location, along with related contextual metadata including project details, sampling point information, and key water measurements (e.g. pH and Eh).
The template is implemented within CMR Specify (CMR Discovery Sample Collection Management System) to support the systematic cataloguing of legacy and newly acquired mineral exploration samples. Adoption of this standard reduces redundant metadata entry, improves data integrity, and enhances the curation and discovery of physical samples across the program.
