Prokaryote with membrane-bound nucleus. Gemmata obscuriglobus UQM 2246

Gemmata obscuriglobus strain UQM 2246. This strain (DSM 5831) is the type strain for this species. It was isolated in the early 1980's from the surface waters of a freshwater dam (Maroon Dam) in Queensland, Australia. This is the only known strain of the genus and the species.
