The dataset Vistula River Warsaw Daily Water Levels provides a continuous daily record of water stages of the Vistula River at Warsaw, comprising 82,453 observations from 1 February 1799 to 31 October 2024. Data are stored in a two-dimensional tabular format with one row per day and variables provided in columns. The table contains the following fields: date – calendar date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. water_level_cm – daily water stage in centimetres relative to the reference gauge zero, homogenized and referred to the currently operating gauge Warsaw–Boulevards. water_level_m_Kronstadt60 – water level converted to metres above sea level according to the Kronstadt 60 vertical reference system (m a.s.l.). water_level_m_EVRF2007 – water level converted to metres above sea level according to the EVRF2007 vertical reference system (m a.s.l.). data_type – classification of the record as observed (measured values) or reconstructed (gap-filled values). original_observation – unadjusted water level observations recorded in the original measurement units, without any corrections or conversions.Units used over time: 1799-02-01 – 1859-12-31: New Polish cal (≈ 2.4 cm) 1860-01-01 – 1879-12-01: English Imperial inch (≈ 2.54 cm) 1880-01-01 – 1910-10-31: Russian 1/100 sazhen (≈ 2.13 cm) from 1910-11-01: centimetres (cm) reconstruction_method – method applied in the case of reconstructed data, e.g. linear interpolation or gauge relationship. remarks – additional information, notes on reconstructions quality. Data sources: The complete bibliography is provided in the file vistula_data_sources. The file includes titles, publishers, years of publication, and, where available, links to digital copies in online libraries. The dataset has been harmonized from heterogeneous historical sources and adjusted for gauge relocations, unit conversions, and reference level changes, providing a consistent long-term series suitable for hydrological and environmental research.
