MicroRNA sequencing in control and frozen Dryophytes versicolor heart

Dryophytes versicolor is able to survive months of being frozen solid over the winter. To survive whole-body freezing, these frogs must enter a hypometabolic state through the use of various molecular mechanisms including microRNA-mediated gene regulation. microRNAs are known to regulate translation by targeting mRNA for degradation or temporary storage. Next-generation sequencing was used to assess changes in microRNA expression in Dryophytes versicolor in response to freezing.
