On 22 september 2014, we work in group of four in York University grassland to Sample plant populations, specifically estimate the abundance of various plant species in the area. The way of doing this is by using a quadrat which is a sampling square, one meter squared in area. The quadrate is randomly placed at 15 different positions on the field and all the species identified in each one are counted. Four variables are recorded during the research: total abundance of plants, total number of different plant species, total cover of all vegetation within plots, and total cover of grasses.(variables are described and explained in the meta-data table)
