The removal of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) was investigated in batch reactor with non adapted sludge. The reactor was fed with 1.5 mg L 1 of six PCB congener solutions (PCB 10, 28, 52, 153, 138 and 180), mineral medium and co-substrates. At the end of the operation the microbial consortium was identified.
