Lumacaftor-ivacaftor reshapes the gut-lung axis in 2- to 11-year-old children with cystic fibrosis

Targeted cystic fibrosis therapy with lumacaftor-ivacaftor is known to partially restore chloride channel function, improving epithelial fluid exchange, and consequently modifying microbiota and mycobiota of the lungs and the gut. While the gut-lung axis is established in other settings, little is known about its role following modulator therapy, particularly in the 2-11 age group. Objectives: To investigate the effects of lumacaftor-ivacaftor on the microbiota-mycobiota of the gut-lung axis in a national multicenter pediatric study.
