Whole genome sequencing of mtr mosaic transformants (undirected)

Mosaic interspecifically acquired alleles of the multiple transferable resistance (mtr) efflux pump operon correlate with increased resistance to azithromycin in Neisseria gonorrhoeae in epidemiological studies. Here, we use genomic DNA from mosaic donor strains to transform the 28Bl cell line to azithromycin resistance. We then sequence the genomes of transformants to determine which regions have been inherited from mosaic donors.
