(i) To establish what aspects of general aviation at small airfields cause annoyance and the degree of anoyance caused;<br>
(ii) to find out whether the NNI formula used at major airports was also applicable to general aviation;<br>
(iii) to develop indices of night time annoyance and relate these to measures of night noise exposure.<br>
The general aviation airfield selected for the study was Hamble airport, based on the east side of Southampton Water and used almost solely as a training centre for aircraft pilots.
