Probing the charge order and its excitations/fluctuations across the pseudogap critical doping in La-based superconducting cuprates

We propose to perform resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) at the Cu L3-edge to investigate the evolution of the charge order in overdoped La1.8–xEu0.2SrxCuO4. We aim to capture its behavior across the pseudogap critical doping by studying whether it persists above p* and has a static or dynamical character. By comparing these data to recent NMR results, we expect to shed light on the respective role of the charge / spin orders on the emergence of the pseudogap and their relative connection to a possible quantum phase transition.
