Poems by prince Jahândârshâh.

A collection of Persian and Hindûstânî poems, ghazals, rubâ’îs, and mathnawî-baits, by the same prince Jahândârshâh, entitled on the fly-leaf: بياض عنايتى مرشد زاده. This title seems to be written by mere mistake on the fly-leaf of this MS., as it properly belongs to the preceding album, whereas the title given to that collection, ‘Poems by the prince Jahândârshâh,’ refers to this copy. That this collection contains the prince’s own poetry, is proved by the takhalluṣ Jahândâr, which very often occurs.

Persian lyrical poems, on fol. 1b, beginning:

پيش من تحفۀ نوكار كهن هر دو يكيست

كوه و صحرا و كف دشت و چمن هر دو يكيست

Hindûstânî lyrical poems, on fol. 9b, beginning:

خود بخود چو يار همسى آج سكچانى لكا الخ

A Hindûstânî mathnawî, on fol. 62a, headed: مثنوئ , شهرزادۀ عالم ميرزا جوان بخت جهاندار شاه دام اقباله’

and beginning:

الهى ركهه مچهى آوارۀ عشق – ميرى دل كوكر آتشپارۀ عشق

This mathnawî concludes on fol. 71a and is followed on ff. 73a-86a by another Hindûstânî mathnawî, or rather a collection of mathnawî-baits, by the emperor Shâh ‘Âlam, as the following heading seems to imply:

ارشاد حضور پر نور شاه عالم پادشاه غازى خلّد الله ملكه و سلطانه’.

No. 58, ff. 86, 8 baits on every page; clear Nasta’lîḳ; size, 9 in. by 47/8 in.; in outward appearance both MSS., Nos. 57 and 58, are quite alike.
