This dataset documents the development and use of Fran, the Slovenian language resource portal, through two complementary data files. The file Maili-FRAN.docx contains a collection of email correspondence, notes, and related materials concerning the conception, development, testing, launch, and subsequent improvement of the Fran portal. The materials document editorial, organisational, technical, and design decisions, including the integration of dictionaries and other language resources, search functionality, data formats, interface development, testing, and coordination between researchers, editors, designers, and technical developers. Most of the material relates to the development and launch of Fran in 2014, with some later documentation of related initiatives and further development. The file Obisk Frana.xlsx contains longitudinal usage data for the portal, comprising 31 dated observations of the cumulative number of searches between October 2014 and June 2026. The recorded total increases from 0 to more than 816 million searches. Together, the files provide qualitative and quantitative research data on the history, development, and long-term use of Fran and on the development of digital lexicographic infrastructure for Slovenian.
