Through a stepwise selection process, we identified 51 potato cultivars from a pool of 1,000 based on their plant growth metrics and distinct root exudate patterns. In a controlled greenhouse experiment, we validated their capacity to interact with the soil microbiome. A total of 51 potato cultivars were grown under controlled conditions, with three replicates per cultivar. DNA was extracted from their rhizosphere soil for 16S rRNA and ITS2 sequencing.
