Paired of black carbon abundance and carbon isotopic composition of core SDZ6 in the NW South China Sea

A total of 517 samples were taken at 1–2 cm intervals, yielding an average temporal resolution of ~68 years per sample. For each sample, we measured the abundance and stable carbon isotope composition (δ¹³C) of black carbon using wet chemical oxidation pretreatment, followed by elemental analysis–isotope ratio mass spectrometry (EA‑IRMS). Given the low magnitude of black carbon (BC) concentrations, BC abundance is reported in per mil (‰) rather than percent (%).
