The environmental human fungal pathogen, Cryptococcus neoformans, undergoes morphological and transcriptional adaptation in the switch from comensialism to pathogenicity. Here we have investigated pheromone-independent filamentation. Relative to wild type strain, transcript profiling of MAT2 deletion mutants on media with copper revealed that pheromone is not essential for filamentation under this condition. Overall design: Strand specific RNA-seq comparing transcrip profiling of mat? strains to the respective wildtype strain XL280 on copper media.
