U.S. Government Responses to Protest Crackdowns Abroad (USGPC)

Under what conditions does the United States (U.S.) government respond to protest crackdowns abroad, and what causes the U.S. government to escalate its responses? This dataset attempts to quantitatively answer this question through 518 cross-national observations of maximalist movements, tracking whether the foreign government killed or injured protestors, and whether the U.S. used diplomatic, sanctions-based, or military tools to respond to the crackdown.
