Based on the characteristics of the backscattering coefficient of domestically produced C-band synthetic aperture radar, an empirical cross polarization geophysical model function was constructed using SMAP satellite high wind speed data, and applied to the inversion of typhoon high wind speed using synthetic aperture radar. The inversion results show that the empirical cross polarization geophysical model function can invert strong typhoons with extremely high wind speeds of over 50m/s. Compared with the linear cross polarization geophysical model function, the inversion results of extremely high wind speeds have significantly improved, and the sea surface wind speed inversion error (RMS) is better than 2.84m/s.
