资源简介:

Previous studies have demonstrated a relationship between cognitive function and lifestyle. However, the relationship between lifestyle and cognition is expected to differ in different cultural and resource-poor environments, where lifestyle habits differ from those in high-income countries. Aim: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between lifestyle factors and cognitive function among older adults aged 60 years and older in 2021. Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted with the participation of 300 older adults covered by comprehensive urban health centers in Iran. Older people were selected by stratified cluster sampling. For data collection, the Demographic Information Questionnaire (DIQ), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and Lifestyle Questionnaire (LSQ) were used. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22 and independent t test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression analysis at a 0.05 significance level. Results: A total of 156 elderly males (52%) and 144 elderly females (48%) were studied. The study revealed a significant correlation between cognitive function and lifestyle. (P<0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that physical health, accident prevention, and drug avoidance impact cognitive function (P<0.001). Conclusion: Our findings suggested that a better lifestyle was associated with better cognitive function among older adults. Therefore, lifestyle promotion programs improve cognitive function and quality of life among elderly individuals.
