资源简介:
Many coastal communities in Alaska are threatened by tsunamis that could be generated by earthquakes associated with the Aleutian-Alaskan subduction zone (AASZ). Potential tsunami inundation from various AASZ earthquake scenarios has been modeled by others and related tsunami-hazard zones have been published (see supplemental information). We used the USGS Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst Tool (PEAT) to estimate pedestrian evacuation travel times out of a select number of tsunami hazard zones that represent the largest areas of potential inundation in 20 Alaskan coastal communities. Estimated travel times out of hazard zones are based on an assumed maximum travel speed of 1.20 meters per second that is modified by changes in slope. One time map shapefile was created for each place (or group of places, see supplemental information) and then merged to create one evacuation travel-time map for Alaskan coastal communities. Data were created to help identify areas where people may have challenges evacuating before tsunami waves arrive.
