From Students to Stewards: Michigan Freshwater Education Resources and Partners

This table of Michigan’s Freshwater Education Resources and Partners is a component of Phase 3 of the From Students to Stewards (FS2S) Initiative, which broadly aims to improve water literacy among K-12 students. FS2S is a partnership of EGLE’s Office of Great Lakes (OGL) and Environmental Education program and Labor and Economic Opportunity’s (LEO) MiSTEM Network. The OGL has funded the program through the Michigan Great Lakes Protection Fund, LEO through MiSTEM School Aid Funds, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. This database provides information on freshwater education resources and water stewardship programs in the state of Michigan. The purpose of this database is to support the implementation of place-based, problem-based, project-based learning and promote stewardship of Michigan’s watersheds and environment. This information is shared here in a user friendly, interactive, online table of freshwater educational programs, partners, and resources. The table includes information on field trips, camps, classroom visits and resources, lesson plans, family programs, professional development opportunities, and other resources from non-profit, private, or state-led programs that provide freshwater education resources or programming.
