This study investigates gene expression differences in bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) leaves collected from contrasting light environments in Arctic (Tromsoe, Norway) and temperate (Jena, Germany) regions. Total RNA was extracted from naturally growing plants and sequenced using the Illumina platform to generate high-quality paired-end reads. The resulting transcriptome data provide insight into how bilberry adapts its physiological and defense mechanisms to extreme light conditions across latitudes. These data support comparative analyses of light-regulated gene expression and can contribute to understanding plant adaptation in northern ecosystems.
