Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is the most economically important cultivated penaeid shrimp species worldwide. However, the shrimp farming industry has been suffering tremendous economic losses due to the outbreak of early mortality syndrome (EMS, also known as acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease, AHPND). The transcriptomes of L. vannamei with or without Vibrio infection of EMS/AHPND were comparatively analyzed, aiming to comprehensively understand shrimp transcriptomic response to EMS/AHPND infection and to reveal some novel immune-related genes in shrimp L. Vannamei.
