Fifteen-minute temporal resolution data were used for the pH and temperature exposure metrics. The pH threshold was chosen to be 8.1 as this is the present average pH of the open ocean [72]. The temperature thresholds (TRT) were different for each month (June-December) and were equivalent to a Mean Monthly Maximum (MMM) time series we computed for the site based on field data for 2008–2013 (Australian Institute for Marine Science, http://data.aims.gov.au/aimsrtds/station.xhtml?station=130) (S1 Table). Any maximum values here represent maxima for the whole dataset rather than the maximum within a given month (e.g., IpH-MAX is the maximum intensity across the 6 months of data).Environmental exposure metrics calculations.
