Analysis of Virulence and Antimicrobial Resistance Gene Carriage in Staphylococcus aureus Infections in Equids

Seventy-two clinical Staphylococcus aureus isolates from equids (horses, donkeys, and a mule) were collected at Texas A&M University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital between 2007 and 2017. Whole genome sequencing was performed to characterize the isolates according to sequence typing, biofilm formation, antimicrobial resistance, and toxin carriage.
