OWM Info Hours: Legal Metrology Regulations Requirements for Weighing and Measuring Products Marketed in the European Union

The NIST Office of Weights and Measures (OWM) hosts a series of Information Hours, or "Info Hours," that feature insights on topics relevant to legal metrology and documentary standards through an informal technical discussion and Question and Answer forum. In this week's session, NIST OWM’s Jan Konijnenburg provides a short introduction to EU regulations with respect to legal metrology for U.S. stakeholders, especially U.S. manufacturers. The presentation includes a discussion of CE marking, the legislative framework, the Measuring Instruments Directive, the NAWI Directive, conformity assessment procedures, harmonized versus national regulations, and the role of the manufacturer.
