Arthrobacter sp. strain AM8 isolated from cryoturbated organic matter from Arctic permafrost soil has the ability to degrade aliphatic and aromatic compounds, cellulose and polyphenolic compounds. Together with the DNA repair capability predetermines this strain to survive in nutrient limited and extreme environment.
