Shrimp pathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus transcriptome

The global shrimp industry is affected by pathogenic vibrios that carry PirABvp binary toxin genes, which cause acute hepatopancreatic necrosis (AHPND) in peneid shrimp. Antibiotics are commonly used to treat this disease, but they induce microbial resistance and are potentially harmful to human health and the environment. The use of essential oils in aquaculture is very promising for its anti-virulence properties, we evaluated the effect of oregano essential oil on the transcriptome of Vibrio parahaemolyticus (strain BA94C2) pathogen of great importance in the shrimp industry.
