GEOLAB - Centrifuge Tests on Horizontally Loaded Piles in Dry Sand - Deltares' contribution to the Benchmark Project

Welcome to the Deltares dataset on Zenodo. This dataset, part of the GEOLAB Benchmark Centrifuge Tests project, presents measurements from small-scale centrifuge experiments on horizontally loaded piles in dry sand. The tests simulate large-scale prototype pile tests conducted at the Technical University of Darmstadt (TUDa). Several GEOLAB partners, including Deltares, simulated the TUDa test series in their GeoCentrifuges. This data set presents the Deltares results.

Benchmark Tests and ObjectivesThe benchmark tests support research into repeatability, scale effects, and consistency in geotechnical experiments. For the protype tests, TUDa subjected an open-ended steel pile, embedded in compacted dry sand, to monotonic and cyclic horizontal loading.

GEOLAB InitiativeGEOLAB is funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program (Grant No. 101006512) to support research into Europe’s critical infrastructure. The project connects research installations across Europe to study the behaviour of soils and structures under realistic conditions.
