Global economic losses from natural disasters 2023, by type

In 2023, the global economic loss caused by earthquakes amounted to 99 billion U.S. dollars, more than any other type of natural disaster that year. Flooding followed in second, at 94 billion U.S. dollars. That same year, the total economic loss from all natural disasters globally reached 380 billion U.S. dollars.
