Whipworm-associated gut microbiome members in mice (V1V2 16S target loci)

The human whipworm Trichuris trichiura infects 795 million people worldwide, resulting in substantial morbidity. Whipworm infections are difficult to treat due to low cure rates and high reinfection rates. Interactions between the whipworm and its host's gut microbiome present a potential novel target for infection control or prevention. This 16S dataset analyzes changes in the gut microbiome of mice experimentally infected with whipworm (Trichuris muris), and subsequently dewormed by anthelmintic treatment, and includes relevant untreated controls. This dataset will provide a point of comparison to natural human infections, and demonstrate the usefulness of the mouse model for whipworm studies.
