Metabolic interactions in anammox community with micron-scale resolution

Our study demonstrates the first delineation of spatial structure in anammox consortia with micron-scale resolution, contributing to an improved understanding of the social behavior of the anammox community. Delineating of biological structures at micron-scale opens a new way of research to study the microbial interactions of complex microbiota in not only engineered bioreactors but also natural ecosystems.
