资源简介:
This dataset contains behavioral and contest data from male strawberry poison frogs (Oophaga pumilio) collected on Bastimentos Island, Bocas del Toro, Panama. The study examined relationships between personality traits (boldness and activity) and contest performance, as well as behavioral changes following dyadic aggressive encounters.
Behavioral traits were measured using repeated simulated predator-attack assays conducted before and after contests. Boldness was quantified as latency to resume movement and latency to resume foraging following the disturbance, and activity was quantified as total time spent active during the observation period. Each individual was tested multiple times in pre-contest and post-contest phases.
Contest performance was assessed during controlled dyadic encounters between size-matched males and quantified using three metrics: aggressive intensity score, contest score (relative dominance), and aggression level (high vs. low).
The dataset includes individual ID, combat ID, experimental period (prefight, contest, postfight), morphological measures (scaled mass index), behavioral variables (raw data), contest metrics, and batch information.
Missing values occur when individuals did not move or forage during a trial.
All analyses were conducted in R (version 4.3.2). A detailed description of variables and file structure is provided in the accompanying README file.
