We are going to perform and monitor a reaction between nitrogen and multicomponent refractory alloys (high-entropy and ternary alloys) under compression and heating in a DAC to observe a formation of high-entropy nitrides based on platinum group metals. We are going to investigate three Ir-based multicomponent alloys, namely hcp–Ir0.24Ru0.36Os0.40 and fcc–Ir0.84Ru0.06Os0.10, and fcc–Ir0.26Os0.05Pt0.31Rh0.23Ru0.15, as models for their reaction with N2. Our study will give insight into reactions of multicomponent platinum-based alloys with nitrogen to obtain ultra-incompressible multicomponent nitrides recoverable at ambient conditions.
