资源简介:

3D scan of the figure of a person holding a replica of the Hraschina meteorite, that is part of the architecture in Hall 4 of the Natural History Museum Vienna. The figurine and others of its kind in Hall 4 were sculpted by Rudolf Weyr.

The figures made by Rudolf Weyr (1847-1914) in Hall 4 consist of eight
pairs and four single figures that are along the wall close to the
ceiling. The one shown here is part of a pair and left of a figure
representing the element silver. The sculptor’s figures in Hall 4 not only represent the most important
minerals and metals, but the overall program also incorporates allusions
to alchemy and its search for the philosopher’s stone: Flanked by the
figures representing metals and bearing the alchemical planetary
symbols, there is this figure with a star crown holding the Hraschina
meteorite. The figures were cleaned from dust in the 1990s uncovering their
discreet colors. They show a very subtle color scheme which is typical
for historical sculptures. This figure is holding the Hraschina meteorite, the founding object of
the Vienna meteorite collection. At a closer look it becomes evident
that the “reconstruction” is accurate only insofar as it was necessary
for the viewer from below.

A 3D model of the Hraschina meteorite ist available here
