This thesis explores how total knee replacement surgery affects patients’ ability to squat and bend their knees after recovery. It develops a simulation tool to predict postoperative squat motion using a custom-built skeletal model of the patient. The model calculates the squat movement by solving an optimisation problem. Tested in three phases, it refines predictions by adjusting for total knee replacement alignment. This tool helps doctors understand how alignment choices impact mobility, improving surgery planning and patient recovery outcomes.
