Gut microbiota in antiretroviral-treated HIV-infected MSM, MSW, and females

Stool samples from n=160 subjects were profiled using the universal bacterial 515F forward primer (5’-GTGCCAGCMGCCGCGGTAA) and the 806R reverse primer (5’-GGACTACHVGGGTWTCTAAT) targeting the V4 hyper variable region of the 16s rRNA gene. Subjects encompassed HIV-infected individuals on suppressive antiretroviral therapy matched to seronegative controls by age, sex, sexual practice, BMI, and ethnicity.
