资源简介:
Sediment cores 506-48 and 506-50 from Lake Bolshoye-Shchuchye in the Polar Urals in northern Russia are both 24 m long and were taken parallel to each other with a slight offset in depth in order to obtain the complete sediment sequence. The cores were recovered in two-metre-long liners (= core sections) and numbered consecutively. All liners were divided into two approximately one-metre-long subsections, which were labelled -I (upper section) and -II (lower section). High-resolution optical core images of the core subsections were recorded with an ITRAX XRF core scanner at the University of Bergen. There is no image of the lowest core section of core 506-50 (core section 12) as it was not extracted in a liner but in a steel barrel. Due to the coring procedure and the condition of the sediment when sampling the U-channel, core 506-50 was only sampled down to core section 10. The dpi number of the images was not noted, but could be reconstructed to 130 dpi.Table 1 contains details about the cores including the drilling depth and core depth of the individual sections as used in Scheidt et al. (2025). The correlation scheme provided in Table 2 is the one used in the palaeomagnetic study by Scheidt et al. (2025).
