VPRS 833 Schedules of Applications for Surrender of Lease, Section 37, Land Act 1862

This series contains schedules of applicants for forfeiture of lease under Section 37, Land Act 1862 prepared for the consideration and consent of the Board of Land and Works (VA 744). Set out in tabular form, details given are the county and parish, the size and location of the land involved, the name of the applicant and the date of the new lease under the Land Act of 1862. Some schedules also have attached the actual application forms for this action and for the original lease granted under the Sale of Crown Lands Act 1860. Some schedules also have the Board of Land and Works reference numbers.Section 37 Land Act 1862 allowed twelve months for leaseholders under the 1860 Act to surrender that lease and take up an 8 year lease under the 1862 Act under the same conditions as previously.
