Absolute poverty rate among families in Italy 2012-2023

In 2023, the incidence rate of absolute poverty for families in Italy was 8.4 percent. After an increase up to seven percent in 2018, in 2019 this figure dropped by 0.6 percentage points. In 2020, instead, the incidence of absolute poverty in Italy grew again. In total, about 2.2 million families were living in poverty in Italy as of 2023.
