Yearly Gridded Maximum Temperature (1.0 x 1.0) data Binary File

This collection contains India Meteorological Department (IMD) high-resolution daily gridded data on temperature and rainfall for India at various spatial resolutions. The temperature data was developed using temperature data of weather stations. A modified version of the Shepard’s angular distance weighting algorithm was used for interpolating the station temperature data into 1◦ latitude × 1◦ longitude grids. Using the cross validation, errors were estimated and found less than 0.5 ◦C. The data set was also compared with another high resolution data set and found comparable. The data is available in GRD (.grd) format for every year since 1951. Information on daily maximum and minimum temperature is available. IMDLIB, a Python library dedicated to IMD gridded data, can be used to extract the data.
