Religiosity and quality of life of chronic renal failure patients under hemodialysis treatment

The study aimed to evaluate the correlation between religious attitude and quality of life (QOL) of 100 chronic renal failure patients under hemodialysis treatment. Data collection applied the questionnaires Socio-Demographic Data Form WHOQOL-Abbreviated Scale and the Religious Attitude Scale. The analyses revealed that component 1 of Religious Attitude Scale showed a correlation with the psychological domain of the WHOQOL-short (r=0.21, p<0.05); component 2 correlated with QOL level of independence (r=0.28 , p<0.01); component 3 correlated with the level of independence (r=0.22, p<0.05) and with the social relationships domain (r=0.22, p <0.05); satisfaction with QOL correlated with religiosity 2 (r=0.22, p<0.05) component. Thus, one may conclude that religiosity is a source of comfort and hope to patients, providing overall well-being.
