Klebsiella pneumoniae has emerged as one of the most notorious pathogens in the list of multidrug resistant superbugs of the WHO priority. To date, colistin is the last resort antibiotic for the treatment of Klebsiella pneumoniae infections, although evidence is cumulatively suggesting the emergence of colistin-resistant strains. Our project utilizes whole genome sequencing technology and comprehensive bioinformatics analysis to elucidate the virulence and multidrug resistant isolates obtained from clinical samples. Our workflow integrates multiple phenotypes from antimicrobial susceptibility panels along with whole genome sequencing to come up with a genome-guided selection of risk factors of virulence and antimicrobial resistance for better therapeutic interventions.
